Breast lump is any abnormal or unusual mass in the breast.
What is a breast lump?
Breast lump is any abnormal or unusual mass in the breast. Around 60 to 80% of breast lumps of benign (harmless) specially in women under 40 years. However, a breast lump is the most common sign of breast cancer. Hence, all new breast lumps should be checked by a specialist.
The size of the breast can be reduced or increased (implants or fat grafting) at the same time, if required.
What are the treatment options for breast lumps?

The treatment options will be discussed depending on the type of breast lump. Some cysts can be aspirated and fibroadenoma can be removed if they are large or bothersome. If the lump is cancerous, the treatment will depend on the size/type of cancer.

What are the causes of benign breast lump?
The two most common causes of benign breast lumps are fibroadenoma (leaflet) and cysts (leaflet).
How are breast lumps diagnosed?
You will be seen in a rapid assessment clinic where the clinical examination and scan (mammogram and/or ultrasound) are done at the same appointment. If a biopsy is required, it can be done at the same time.
